“Bigg Boss Kannada” has been one of the most watched reality TV shows in Karnataka, bringing drama, entertainment, controversies and a behind-the-scenes peek into celebrity lives. Since its inception in 2013, it has kept Kannada audiences glued to their TV screens every season. The show has given us winners, runner-ups, unforgettable fights, emotional moments and constant suspense. Here, we compile a complete list of winners and runner-ups across all seasons:
Show Format
Bigg Boss Kannada is based on the global Big Brother / Bigg Boss format, adapted for Kannada viewers.
- House & Living: Contestants (called “housemates”) are confined to a specially designed house, cut off from the outside world (no phones, no TV, no internet) except communications via the host.
- Nomination & Eviction: Every week, housemates nominate peers for eviction. Those with most nominations face a public vote. One (or more, depending on format) gets evicted.
- Captaincy & Immunity: From Season 2 onward, a captain is chosen weekly—he/she earns immunity from nomination, sometimes gets special powers (to save or nominate others) or privileges.
- Tasks & Budget: Weekly tasks decide whether the housemates earn “luxury budget” or basic needs. Tasks are both physical and mental, sometimes individual or group.
- Weekend Episodes & Host Interaction: Typically, on weekends the host meets evicted contestants, interviews them, and handles dramatic confrontations.
- Voting & Audience Participation: Public voting (originally via SMS/telecom, later increasingly via OTT/streaming apps) determines who stays.
- Spin-offs & Unseen Content: In many seasons, “unseen footage”, spin shows or “Night Shift” episodes show unseen or extra content on complementary platforms (TV channels or OTT).
Over the years, slight format tweaks have happened (such as more commoners, digital voting, suspension due to COVID) but the core remains the same: stay in the house, complete tasks, avoid eviction, and charm the public.
